Chicago Highland Games results

Tunes of Glory continue to be well-represented in solo competition this season with medal-winning performances at the Chicago Highland Games.

In Senior Novice piping it was a 1:2 for ToG with Stuart Barr playing a solid rendition of 2/4 march Walter Douglas, MBE to take 1st place. John Adair took an excellent 2nd place in the same event playing High Road to Gairloch. This was John's first ever solo competition -- what a way to start!

In Grade 4, Stuart Barr took 5th place in Piobaireachd, while George Jett claimed 6th in March piping, his first placing in this event. Kayli Smith took 6th place in the Grade 4 March snare drumming competition.

Both competition bands were also in action in Chicago.

First up, the novice Grade 5 band was in action for the first time:

Their hard work paid off with an admirable performance for first-time out, and real encouragement for the future strength of the Grade 5 band.

The Grade 4 band was also competing at the games:

It is very encouraging to see so many ToG players competing in solo and band competition this year, and so many for the first time. This bodes very well for the strong future of the band!
